Wicklow Herbalist Launches Wild Herbal Balms
Mountain Herbery, created by Wicklow herbalist Jo Segrave-Daly, releases the Apothecary range on May 1st, a delightful collection of thirteen herbal remedies for every day care.
Wild herbs harvested in Glenmalure & Glendalough are prepared into herbal oils and blended with Irish Beeswax to make these distinctively Irish balms.
In the Apothecary you’ll find a balm to relieve arthritis, eczema, stress, IBS, bites & stings, cuts & grazes, blemishes and much more. There are also two herbal lip balms with Glendalough honey for a very special touch.
‘Most of us would find a dock leaf when stung by a nettle but we overlook many other native plants’ explains Jo, from Glenmalure. ‘ The Wicklow Mountains are full of plants for common complaints and my balms revive what generations before us knew so well’.
Nettles, Dandelions, Chickweed, Horsetail and Plantain are among the many herbs Jo harvests. ‘All the ingredients reflect the great natural habitats we have here in Wicklow’.
Mountain Herbery has a massage bar range with herbs to sooth the skin and vitalise the muscles and a First Thyme range especially for children which includes the delightful Oops a Daisy balm. This balm for bumps and bruises is made with arnica, chamomile and of course Daisy oil, to help reduce swelling.
What you may think of as weeds could be a time old Irish herb carefully dispensed as an Apothecary balm!
